Step 1: Go to VMware fusion > Preferences (or use shortcut cmd + ,)

Step 2: In General tab > Show in menu bar, Select the option from the drop-down as per your preference.

After selecting the preferred option, the menu icon will disappear after quitting the VMware fusion app.
